Zimbabwe tightened its import rules, and buses are searched properly now — cargo riding as "personal effects" gets pulled out, held for hours, sometimes confiscated if it isn't declared right. Annoying if it's a bag of clothes. A lot more painful if it's a gearbox, an alternator or an engine — that can be the whole trip, gone.
